In 1973, Lyle converted janitorial accounts to a subcontracting format that eventually evolved into a franchise format. Five years later, he bought three small janitorial companies in the Portland Oregon area and set up a Branch office. By 1994, he established a master franchise office in Spokane, Washington area.
Lyle and National Maintenance Contractors were awarded the Puget Sound Business Journal’s “1991 Emerging Business of the Year” award in the business creativity category.
In 2003, Lyle developed and patented a grout restoration product called ENCASE. It is widely used throughout the United States.
It was in 2006 that Lyle sold the business and the ENCASE product to Marsden Holding, L.L.C. At first, Lyle contemplated retiring but realized he was too young and was having fun.
Lyle currently belongs to Seattle Rotary #4 and is on the Classification Committee and Indoctrination Committee. He has served on the Board of Directors for Life SPAN, an organization that develops quality of life networks for adults with developmental disabilities and the Board of the Bellevue Boys and Girls club. Lyle also worked with a group of CEO’s sharing business plans and goals called the Renaissance Executive Forum for six years.
Lyle is married to Margaret Graddon and lives in Bellevue Washington. They have three children. Brian is a fire fighter in San Diego and lives with his wife and daughter. Lyle & Margaret’s daughter lives in Redmond, WA. Their second son currently works for National Maintenance Contractors and lives in Bellevue, WA.
